November 2nd: I am thankful for… MY PUP

izzy

I love my dog. She’s feisty, energetic, and hilarious. But she has a real soft side, too.

During the day when I’m working (I work at home), I always sit with a blanket on the floor or in the seat next to me — so she can crawl underneath it and snuggle. This right here, this is the look she gives when she wants to snuggle. Irresistible.

When she really wants something, she’ll sit up like a weenie dog does on her hind legs with her front legs pulled up to her chest. It’s so stinkin’ cute.

When J comes home, she looks all around the house for her favorite toy to bring to him, so excited her playmate is back.

And when he gets her riled up, she starts running really fast — first in circles, then up and down the hallway. Super fast. As I write this, J and I can hear her running down the hallway and up onto our bed upstairs. She’s tiny, only about 14 lbs, but you can hear every foot hit the floor. And now we’re hearing squeaking…she’s found her toy.

She crawls under the covers of our bed to warm up our feet. But then she crawls out and plops herself onto one of our pillows — taking over half of it where we were laying! And if we get up, she immediately takes our spot. We laugh every time she does that.

I never thought I’d go for a weenie dog (she’s a chihuahua-weenie mix). And when we got her, the rescue place told us she wouldn’t be a lap dog. But it didn’t matter — I saw her and fell in love. She’s beautiful. (The lap dog thing is so not true, by the way. She’s my snuggler.)

She’s my darling when I need to cuddle, and she brings us so much joy. We laugh out loud at her all the time. Sometimes she’s too smart for her own good. I am so thankful to have her.

  1. Awwww your dog is sooo cute! I swear I own her boyfriend 🙂 Ha! He is the same size too. My Jack Russell does the same thing! “She crawls under the covers of our bed to warm up our feet. But then she crawls out and plops herself onto one of our pillows — taking over half of it where we were laying! And if we get up, she immediately takes our spot.” LOL! No kidding and IF we don’t let him under the covers he cries until we do. Awww I love all the pictures. My husband and I have 3 dogs and I’m crazy about them too.

  2. Thanks! Oh how sweet, your dog sounds like he could be her boyfriend…that is hilarious! I want more, maybe even a miniature daschund next time (they are insanely cute) or my dream dog — a french or english bulldog. It must be so much fun having 3!

    • I have an English Bulldog too! His name is Tank 🙂 He’s 4 years old and we got him as a rescue and we’ve had him for a year now. We still had to pay $400 for him, but he came with paperwork that said he was originally $3,000, so we consider that a steal! Our other one was also a rescue (Lab/Shepard Mix). He doesn’t get along with the bulldog at all, but that’s okay because the little Jack is in charge anyway. Miniature daschunds are sooooo cute! 🙂 I think that’d be a good choice!
